Nicaragua Missions Trip - August 2011

September 18th, 2011

The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. (Matthew 9:37-38)

A group of forty-one faithful followers of Jesus Christ (age range from 12 to 73), from CMDA
chapters in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia and
California, went to Nicaragua from 13-21 AUG 2011 to change hearts through healthcare.

The team arrived in Managua, Nicaragua from all parts of the United States and quickly began
to gel as the body of Christ. Introductions were made, praises and prayers were lifted up, travel
was accomplished and a week of evangelism and healthcare began in a small village in the
northern Nicaraguan highlands called Dantanli. The field had already been prepared by CMDA
Global Health Outreach (GHO) staff member Rolando Castillo and a group of over a dozen
Nicaraguan pastors from Dantanli and surrounding areas.

The team set up a medical clinic, dental clinic, optometry clinic, musculoskeletal medicine clinic
(orthopedics, podiatry and chiropractic) , minor procedure clinic, pharmacy and children’s
ministry. In addition, the team sent out eight different mobile health ministry teams into the
country side surrounding Dantanli to reach those too infirm or otherwise unable to make the
arduous trip to Dantanli. Over the course of the four day field mission portion of the trip, the
team touched over 2200 Nicaraguan people with the gospel of Jesus Christ through ministry
and healthcare.

Hearts of both the Nicaraguan people and American short-term missionaries, through the
gospel of Jesus Christ, were impacted and changed forever.
